In an already impressive holiday lineup, Netflix has a brand new romantic comedy coming this season. The highly anticipated Christmas With You stars Freddie Prinze Jr. and Aimee Garcia as an unlikely duo with a shared love of music. This feel-good holiday movie that’s sure to have plenty of heart and some catchy songs to go with it. And who knows, they just might become your new favorites on your yearly holiday playlist.
A Surprise Christmas Romance
Both halves of Christmas With You’s main couple couldn’t be any more different. Angelina is a world-famous yet burnt-out pop star who has no interest in releasing a Christmas single. Low on inspiration, she’s now desperate to find a deeper connection with her fans. Miguel, on the other hand, is a music teacher and single father living in a small town. His daughter, Cristina, loves to post singing videos online, and one of them shares her biggest wish all — to finally meet her idol, Angelina.
When the singer finds Cristina’s video online, she’s so moved she decides to grant her young fan’s wish for Christmas. On a whim, Angelina makes a visit to her tiny New York town and surprises the girl at school. When a snow storm forces her to stay put, Miguel invites her to stay with them for the time being. As she grows closer to this small family, and starts to embrace Christmas, she finds not just new inspiration but also a new chance at love.
An Amazing Cast & Crew to Spend Christmas With
Freddie Prinze Jr. was a teen-movie fixture in the late 90s and early 2000s, most notably in She’s All That, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and Scooby Doo. Since the mid-2000s, however, he has mainly focused on voice work and his family with wife Sarah Michelle Gellar. He’s voiced a number of roles within the Star Wars franchise and played Lt. James Vega in the Mass Effect video game series. While he has done occasional live-action roles, Christmas With You marks his big return to film. Prinze Jr. expressed his excitement in a recent interview with Netflix.

Fans of the hit series Lucifer know Garcia as the upbeat crime scene investigator Ella Lopez, though she had recurring roles on Dexter and George Lopez years before. More recently, she’s appeared in the Hulu series Woke and the How to Train Your Dragon spinoff, Dragons: The Nine Realms. Christmas With You is far from Garcia’s first holiday-related project. Not only was she in Netflix’s Holiday in Santa Fe last year, but she also starred as Clara in a production of The Nutcracker at just twelve years old.
The two are joined by an extensive cast that includes Deja Monique Cruz, Zenzi Williams, Lawrence J. Hughes, Grace Dumdaw, Gabriel Sloyer, Elisa Bocanegra, Matthew Grimaldi, Helena Betancourt, and Sammy Peralta. Co-writers Jennifer C. Stetson, Paco Farias, and Michael Varrati created the screenplay, while Gabriela Tagliavini serves as director.
Christmas With You starts streaming on Netflix on November 17th.
