Are you bored with the same old Christmas comedies year after year? Looking for something a little different? How about an ex-couple fighting over who gets to visit their favorite local bar? If that piques your interest, then you’ll be IFC Film’s Bar Fight! The NYC-based production company announced they had acquired the rights back in August, and now they’re finally about to debut it on November 11, 2022. Get ready to rumble and expect plenty of laughs and free-flowing drinks this holiday season.
Bar Fight! : A Complicated Christmastime Clash
Nina and Allen split everything in their lives 50/50 to speed their break-up. Everything goes smoothly and there’s no conflicts… until it’s time to tackle their favorite watering hole. Now, with their friend egging them on, they must compete against each other in a series of bar-based challenges, from axe throwing and darts to a whole lot of beer-chugging. With the holidays drawing closer, and everyone taking sides, all bets are off in this bar fight for the ages.
Bar Fight stars Melissa Fumero (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Luka Jones (Shrill) as the former couple at odds. They are joined by Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) as Nina’s best friend, along with Julian Grant (Cat Me Kat), Vik Sahay (Chuck), and Dot-Marie Jones (Glee). From the look of this lineup — and the trailer released in October — we can already tell it’s gonna be loads of fun.
A Crazy Festive Labor of Love
This little movie is also a big deal for actor-writer Jim Mahoney, as it’s his feature directorial debut. It also marks the second Christmas-related film he’s ever worked on, having served as one of the three main writers for Netflix's 2019 animated holiday hit, Klaus.
After being picked up by IFC Films, he expressed his excitement and gratitude to everyone involved with this public statement:

Bar Fight! will debut on November 11th, 2022 in select U.S. theaters, on-demand, and streaming on AMC+.
