Some big changes are happening over at Great American Media — a.k.a. Hallmark’s newest competitor. Along with GAC Family’s recent name change to Great American Family, the budding network is also launching their very own app called Great American Community.

Part of a Great American Community

Launching September 26, 2022, you can find plenty of short-form content featuring many of their biggest actors and tv personalities, including Danica McKeller, Cameron Mathison and more. 15 shortform original series are set to debut at launch, with multiple episodes available on day one and additional episodes premiering regularly. As the network’s president and CEO Bill Abbot explains, this comes after months of clamoring for more content and more ways to interact with the stars.

“Since launching GAC Family original programming last October, fans have been asking us for more opportunities to engage with our roster of talent, which we believe is the best in the business. Great American Community will serve as a stand-alone app delivering a completely new experience for consumers hungry for trusted, family-friendly content that is relevant to their lives. We’re thrilled to be rolling out the app in time for the fall season, and look forward to working closely with brand partners as we offer this groundbreaking opportunity to align with our talent and connect with GAC’s passionate fans.”

In addition, users can also get advice and inspiration from many top experts in different fields, ranging from healthcare, home and garden, cooking, and so much more. And, finally, they’ll find a brand-new digital series titled GAC Giving and Caring, where you’ll see how the network’s stars give back to their communities and encourage viewers to do the same. With such wonderful content, it’s no wonder this app — launching September 26th — is called Great American Community.

Great American Christmas 2022

While there likely will not be much holiday content available when Great American Community launches on September 26th, that will not be the case for very long. Just one month later, Great American Family is set to kick off their Great American Christmas holiday celebration on October 28th, 2022, with the release of their first new Christmas movie of the 2022 season.

Bill Abbott has already promised plenty of holiday content to coincide with Great American Christmas on the Great American Community app, including special holiday episodes and behind-the-scenes looks at upcoming Christmas movies, While most of their TV lineup still hasn’t been announced, we already have two festive films to look forward to. If you were one of many viewers during their Christmas in July Marathon, you may have already seen previews for both.

Merritt Patterson and Daniel Lissing in Catering Christmas Movie from Great American Christmas on Great American Family

Catering Christmas

Great American Family’s first new holiday of 2022. Merritt Patterson and Daniel Lissing star as a struggling caterer and her reluctant new client. Patterson is a TV movie regular whom you might remember from last year’s ‘Jingle Bell Princess’  along with the Hallmark Channel’s ‘Gingerbread Miracle’ and ‘Christmas at the Palace.’ Lissing ‘A Christmas Star’ and before that starred in Hallmark’s ‘Christmas in Love’ and ‘A December Bride.’ T.W. Peacocke, who’s best known for numerous episodes of ‘Haven’ and ‘Schitts Creek,’ directs.

Molly Frost (Patterson) is struggling to make a go of her new catering business when she unexpectedly lands New Hampshire’s biggest event of the year, the Harrison Foundation Christmas Fundraiser, which is to be managed this holiday by the nephew and reluctant heir to the family’s foundation, Carson Jacob Harrison (Lissing). Carson is a renowned photographer who has spent years jet-setting around the world to avoid taking over the foundation from his Aunt Jean. Molly, a hometown girl who once was the beneficiary of the foundation’s generosity, takes Carson on a journey to learn about all the good his family provides to so many. The discovery inspires Carson to use his artistic gifts to create the most heartwarming fundraiser in the history of the foundation.

Jill Wagner and Cameron Mathison in A Merry Christmas Wish Christmas Movie from Great American Christmas on Great American Family

A Merry Christmas Wish

Our second film stars Great American Media staples Cameron Mathison and Jill Wagner  — playing a busy marketing executive and her family’s holiday-loving farmhand. Mathison is a long-time soap opera star and tv movie regular, having been on All My Children for 13 seasons. Wagner served as a co-host for the game show Wipeout and starred in 16 Hallmark movies between 2016 and 2021. The film is directed by Bradley Walsh.

In A Merry Christmas Wish, marketing executive Janie (Wagner) returns home from New York City to a small town called Woodland Falls following her great uncle’s death. Despite being a big city girl now, Janie follows through with her uncle’s wishes to host the annual Winter Wonderland festival at her family’s farm with the help of farmhand Dylan (Mathison), who is obsessed with Christmas.

The Elf Squad is looking forward to downloading the Great American Community app on September 26, 2022 and seeing all the wonderful holiday content that is coming soon.
